On the occasion of MuseoCity for Museo Segreto, the wooden model of the observational tower designed by Ruggero Boscovich and built in 1765 will be on display. This tower was the first home of the Brera Astronomical Observatory.
The building consisted of three levels: the first floor was divided into six rooms housing observation instruments, clocks, the library, and other facilities; the second floor featured a large octagonal hall where the main telescopes were used; the third floor included a terrace and two small conical domes for smaller instruments.
The model was commissioned by Boscovich himself in the early months of 1765 to present the project to the superiors of the Brera College and to the Governor of Milan.

MusAB, Museo Segreto and Schiaparelli’s Dome

Visit to the historic dome, located on the rooftops of Palazzo Brera. It was from here that, starting in August 1877, Giovanni Schiaparelli began his observations of the planet Mars, which made him famous worldwide.
After a brief self-guided visit to the Instrument Gallery of the MusAB, you will be accompanied to the rooftops to discover the Schiaparelli Dome.

Admission includes free access to the Instrument Gallery with the Museo Segreto exhibition, as well as access to the Schiaparelli’s Dome.
