Today marks the start of the works aimed at restoring the original appearance of the geodesic dome of the Brera Astronomical Observatory, located at the entrance to the Botanical Gardens, not far to the south-east of the astronomical domes on the roofs of the building. The structure, which dates back to 1879, played a fundamental role in European geodesic campaigns, thanks in part to its strategic location in relation to other reference stations. With the planned renovation, it will be possible to appreciate the structure once again and better understand its role and functionality.
The project has been made possible thanks to funding from the Cariplo Foundation through the “SOS Patrimonio” call for proposals, the Pomara Scibetta ABC Foundation and INAF.
