
MusAB opens its doors to the public to showcase, for the first time since its rediscovery and as a tribute to the Artemis II mission, the 1787 Map of the Moon created by the astronomer Giovanni Domenico Cassini.
MusAB Opening and Exhibition of Cassini’s Moon Map

- Reservations can be made on-site on the day of the visit, subject to availability
Visitors will enjoy free access to the Museum’s Instruments Gallery, featuring the exhibition of Giovanni Domenico Cassini’s Map of the Moon.
Admission includes self-guided access to the Brera Astronomical Museum Gallery and the Moon Map exhibition (it does not include access to the Schiaparelli Dome).
At MusAB, visitors can also experience an Augmented Reality tour through the MARSS App, available for free download.
Cassini’s Moon Map is an exceptionally rare and valuable artifact—only seven copies are known to exist worldwide—combining scientific rigor with remarkable artistic quality. Giovanni Domenico Cassini, Professor of Astronomy in Bologna and, from 1671 onward, astronomer at the court of the Sun King, created a map of the Moon filled with extraordinary detail. Among these details are two features that made the map famous under the name une déclaration d’amour (“a declaration of love”) … come and discover them for yourself!
